Surkhet. Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging his 15th hunger strike for 20 days in Jumla, has agreed to come to Kathmandu.
Dr KC, however, denied flying in the helicopter provided by government for his arrival to Kathmandu.
The protesting surgeon made public about his decision organizing a press conference in Jumla today. He shared that he agreed to come to Kathmandu and continue with his protest, reasoning that his well wishers were beaten and damages were incurred in the Academy where he had been staging the protest.
A team of officials including Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Coordinator from the government talks team Khagaraj Baral and member Gunaraj Lohani led by Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, had reached Jumla today at 11 am to inquire about the health condition Dr KC and to hold a dialogue with him.
The visiting team could not hold a dialogue with Dr KC due to the unfavorable situation surfaced following a clash between the police and Dr KC’s well wishers.
The clash ensued after Dr KC’s well-wishers and the students at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences obstructed the visiting team to reach Dr KC for dialogue.
Security personnel had opened tear gas to bring the clash under control where a policeman sustained injury, according to the District Police Office, Jumla. RSS
