Morang declared of full immunisation district

Biratnagar. Social Development Minister of Province 1, Jeevan Ghimire, has said that a successful implementation of the immunisation programmes in Nepal has freed the Nepalese people from dozens of communicable diseases.
In his address to an official programme organised by the District Public Health Office, Morang today to declare the district a full immunisation zone, the minister said the successful operation of the vaccinations programmes liberated Nepali from the various sorts of deadliest diseases such as malaria, measles, smallpox and polio. Underlining the need of the practice of regular meditation and yoga to achieve a good health for humans, he insisted on the need of using clean waters, toilets as well of other sanitary practices to live a healthy life. He took the time to inform the public that the Province 1 has announced this year as the ‘Health Promotion Year’ and has so far conducted free health checkups of 15,000 people. “The province government is serious about the issue of uterine-prolapse among the women and committed to addressing it.” He advised people to be careful about their dietary habits.
State Assembly member Jayram Yadav highlighted the contribution of the vaccinations programmes in reducing the child mortality rate in the country.
District Public Health Coordination Committee coordinator Naresh Pokhrel presided over the programme.
According to a report unveiled at the programme, a total of 19,475 children, out of 20,075, below five in the district, have already completed a full course of immunisation meant for them. The district with eight rural municipalities, eight municipalities and one metropolitan city has 333 vaccination centers. The 2016 health survey report stated that one percent children in the district were deprived of all sorts of vaccines. Morang has now earned the identity of the 55th district among 77 where full immunisation has been guaranteed.
